ARRIVING IN HELSINKI

Helsinki-Vantaa airport

The Helsinki-Vantaa Airport is located about 25 km north of Helsinki city center where the conference will be held. It is the only international airport near Helsinki and has good connectivity to the major European and number of intercontinental destinations.

Public transport from the airport

The airport train leaves directly from the airport to the Helsinki Central Railway Station, roughly 700 meters from the conference venue.  There are connections to Helsinki every 10-minutes during the day time and both trains to both directions take you to Helsinki. The train ticket (zones ABC) costs 4,10 euros and can be bought at the ticket machines on the platform, on the HSL mobile app or from R-Kioski. The ticket must be purchased before boarding the train. The train journey to Helsinki takes about 30 minutes

Taxi from the airport

Taxi from the airport to city center takes 30 minutes and costs approximately 40 euros depending on your destination and when you travel. Taxis always use a meter. Tipping is not expected. The most common credit cards are accepted.

Bus from the airport

There are also bus connections from the airport to the city centre. Local buses 615 and 415 also operate between the airport and the central railway station with a travel time of approximately one hour. The cost is 4,10 euros (zones ABC). The ticket must be purchased before boarding the bus, there is no tickets sales on the buses. You can buy the tickets from ticket machines, the HSL mobile app or from various stores/kiosks.

The daily mean temperature in August is 16 degrees Celcius (61°F), but 25 degrees (77°F) or 10 degrees (50°F) would not be completely unusual.
